After nearly four decades leading the Dutch superyacht shipyard Feadship, Henk de Vries III will step down as director and CEO of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw on 1 May 2025.
De Vries will remain involved with the shipyard as an ambassador for Feadship, ensuring the brand’s heritage is upheld while new leadership drives the company forward.
He first joined the family-run business in 1987, becoming a director and shareholder in 1996 alongside his cousin Tom de Vries. Under his guidance, the company expanded significantly to include seven operating companies and a workforce of over 1,200. Still fully family-owned, De Vries holds a 50 per cent stake in Feadship.
Known for his forward-thinking leadership, de Vries has been a vocal advocate for environmental responsibility in the superyacht sector. In 2018, he co-founded the Water Revolution Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on reducing the industry’s environmental impact through science-driven solutions. He continues to serve as chairman of the Foundation’s board.
Stepping into the CEO role is Roderick de Vries, who will also act as operational director. Bas Nederpelt joins him as chief commercial officer and Feadship director.
Commenting on the transition, Henk de Vries says: “The four members of our new executive board bring with them over eighty years of De Vries experience. Their deep understanding of the company ensures it is in very capable hands.”
In addition to his new role as Feadship ambassador, Henk de Vries will also continue to contribute as a non-executive board member at Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw and remain a shareholder.
