Commonwealth LNG Appoints New General Counsel and Chief Commercial Officer
U.S.-based Commonwealth LNG, a leading liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal project near Cameron, Louisiana, has announced the appointment of a new member to the positions of General Counsel and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). David Lang, a seasoned professional with a background in energy infrastructure development and LNG projects, will be taking on these pivotal roles within the company.
Lang, who holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. degree from The University of Texas School of Law, brings a wealth of experience to Commonwealth LNG. Prior to joining the company, he served as a Partner at King & Spalding, where he specialized in energy infrastructure development, acquisition, and disposition, with a focus on LNG projects.
With his expertise in the LNG sector, Lang will play a crucial role in finalizing commercial arrangements and legal processes necessary for Commonwealth LNG to proceed with its project. Commonwealth President and CEO, Farhad Ahrabi, expressed his excitement about Lang’s appointment, highlighting the value of his experience in navigating similar challenges in the industry.
Commonwealth LNG is actively developing a 9.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) export facility in Cameron, Louisiana, with a final investment decision expected in the first half of 2025. The company recently secured a significant agreement with Glencore for 2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG supply for 20 years, further solidifying its position in the market.
