Houston-Based Designer F&G Signs Engineering Agreement for Offshore Accommodation Conversion Project

Houston-based designer of mobile offshore drilling units Friede & Goldman (F&G) has recently inked an engineering agreement with Peak Ocean Offshore, a specialist in offshore asset conversion and lifecycle optimization. The collaboration aims to design and engineer a major semi-submersible accommodation conversion project.

The agreement solidifies F&G’s role as the design and engineering authority for the project, which involves transforming a legacy F&G ExD design drilling semi-submersible into a high-capacity offshore accommodation unit. This strategic partnership leverages Peak Ocean’s expertise in asset repurposing and operational efficiency, while highlighting F&G’s longstanding reputation as a trusted technical partner for complex offshore conversions and upgrades.

Decades of Expertise in Offshore Engineering

Friede & Goldman’s rich history in the offshore industry spans decades, with a team of industry pioneers driving innovation and engineering excellence. The collaboration with Peak Ocean Offshore underscores the company’s commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing new challenges in the sector.

“We’re thrilled to work alongside Peak Ocean, whose strategic approach to asset lifecycle management aligns perfectly with our engineering capabilities for this significant project,” said Roberto Salinas, Director of Projects at Friede & Goldman. “This partnership reflects our shared dedication to innovation, safety, and engineering excellence in the offshore sector.”

The offshore industry is witnessing a shift towards repurposing drilling rigs to extend asset life and maximize utilization. F&G’s expertise in repurposing offshore assets for new roles positions them as a key player in driving this trend forward.

Driving Innovation in Offshore Accommodation

The semi-submersible accommodation conversion project represents a milestone in the offshore industry, showcasing the ability to transform existing assets into high-capacity accommodation units. By combining Peak Ocean’s asset conversion proficiency with F&G’s engineering acumen, the project is set to redefine offshore accommodation standards.
