Fugro Acquires EOMAP to Enhance Mapping Solutions

Fugro, a leading provider of geotechnical, survey, subsea, and geoscience services, has recently acquired EOMAP GmbH & Co. KG (EOMAP), a renowned service provider specializing in mapping and monitoring marine and freshwater environments through satellite earth observation technology.

This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone in Fugro’s expansion into the water market, as it adds cutting-edge EO technology to its existing mapping solutions. EOMAP, with its expertise in satellite technology dating back to 2006 and a portfolio of patented algorithms, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Fugro’s offerings.

The demand for earth observation solutions is on the rise, driven by escalating environmental regulations, the urgent need to address climate change impacts, and the growing recognition of the crucial role played by marine ecosystems in maintaining the health of our planet.

For years, EOMAP has been a trusted partner in numerous climate adaptation and nature conservation projects undertaken by Fugro. One such project is the ISPRA Seagrass Coastal Restoration initiative, where Fugro is involved in mapping the entire coastline of Italy to support conservation efforts.

Additionally, EOMAP and Fugro collaborated on the COASTS project, aimed at advancing the integration of data and modeling of coastal processes and blue carbon ecosystems. With pilot projects in Europe and the Maldives, this partnership demonstrates the combined expertise of both companies in tackling complex environmental challenges.

In 2024, EOMAP recorded a revenue of approximately EUR 5 million ($5.2 million), underscoring its strong performance and market presence in the field of earth observation technology.

By joining forces with EOMAP, Fugro is well-positioned to offer enhanced mapping solutions that leverage the power of satellite earth observation, catering to the evolving needs of clients across various industries. This acquisition reinforces Fugro’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, as it continues to lead the way in providing comprehensive geospatial solutions for a changing world.
