Dutch Fugro Awarded Geotechnical Site Investigation Contract for 700 MW Youde Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan
Dutch Fugro has secured a geotechnical site investigation contract for the 700 MW Youde offshore wind farm in Taiwan. The project, owned by Shinfox Energy, aims to bolster Taiwan’s energy transition efforts.
Under the contract, Fugro will deliver comprehensive geotechnical services to support the development of the Youde project. The company’s Taiwan-flagged vessel, Pacific Hornbill, equipped with advanced geotechnical drilling rig and testing systems, will play a pivotal role in the fieldwork campaign.
“By leveraging our ISO-accredited local laboratory, we will deliver integrated high-quality services. This milestone reinforces Fugro IOVTEC’s commitment to strengthening domestic offshore wind capabilities and building long-term partnerships that support Taiwan’s energy transition,” said Vincent Tsai, Chairman of FUGRO IOVTEC.
The geotechnical fieldwork campaign has commenced and is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. Fugro’s expertise and state-of-the-art equipment are expected to ensure the acquisition of high-quality geotechnical data for the Youde offshore wind farm.
The Youde offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 700 MW, is situated off the west coast of Taiwan. It was selected as one of the projects in Taiwan’s Round 3.2, contributing significantly to the country’s renewable energy goals.
