Fugro Secures Geotechnical Services Contract for Youde Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan
Fugro has been awarded a contract by Shinfox Energy to provide geotechnical services in support of the development of the 700 MW Youde offshore wind farm located off the west coast of Taiwan.
The project will see Fugro utilize its Taiwan-flagged vessel, the Pacific Hornbill, which is managed by IOVTEC and equipped with an advanced C30 marine geotechnical drilling rig. Additionally, Fugro will deploy its proprietary specialist WISON MkV EcoDrive downhole in situ testing and sampling system, as well as specialized seabed geotechnical equipment such as the SEACALF MkV Deep Drive.
The geotechnical fieldwork campaign has already commenced and is expected to be finalized by the fourth quarter of 2025. This project is a key component of Taiwan’s ambitious goal to achieve 13.1 GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030.
Shalu Shajahan, Regional Business Line Director Asia Pacific at Fugro, expressed gratitude for being chosen by Shinfox Energy for this significant undertaking. He highlighted the trust that Shinfox has placed in Fugro’s proven track record of delivering high-value Geo-data solutions to offshore wind clients in Taiwan since 2016.
With Fugro’s expertise and cutting-edge technology, the Youde offshore wind farm project is poised to make a substantial contribution towards Taiwan’s renewable energy targets, further solidifying the country’s position as a leader in offshore wind development.
