Fugro Awarded Contract for Deepwater Gas Development in Eastern Mediterranean

Fugro has recently secured a significant contract to conduct a comprehensive site characterization program for an Eni-operated deepwater gas development in the Eastern Mediterranean. This contract marks a crucial survey campaign for Fugro in the region, aligning with the Republic of Cyprus’s goals to become a key player in regional gas production and export to enhance energy security and affordability for Europe.

The geo-data acquisition for this project is set to commence in the third quarter of 2025. Fugro will leverage its extensive expertise in offshore and deepwater geophysical and geotechnical services, along with its environmental capabilities, to support the successful execution of the project.

According to Fugro, the award underscores the company’s in-depth knowledge of the region’s surface and subsurface characteristics, as well as its strong rapport with the client. This collaboration is expected to yield valuable insights that will aid in the efficient and sustainable development of the deepwater gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean.

With a proven track record in delivering high-quality survey and data interpretation services, Fugro is well-positioned to contribute to the success of this Eni-operated gas development. The company’s commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of marine technology further solidifies its reputation as a trusted partner in the energy industry.

As Fugro prepares to embark on this strategic project, stakeholders can anticipate the timely and accurate delivery of crucial geospatial information that will inform key decision-making processes for the development of the deepwater gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean. This endeavor not only highlights Fugro’s technical capabilities but also underscores its dedication to supporting sustainable energy initiatives in the region.
