Gasum and Sirius’ LNG bunker ship to feature TGE Marine cargo tanks, fuel gas system

LNG Bunker Vessel “Celsius” to Feature TGE Marine’s Advanced Systems

Liquefied gas systems provider TGE Marine has been chosen to supply cargo tanks, cargo handling, and fuel gas systems for an upcoming LNG bunker vessel, named “Celsius,” being constructed at RMK Marine shipyard in Türkiye for Gasum and Sirius Shipping.

The vessel, with a capacity of 7,800 cubic meters (cbm), is equipped with a highly efficient propulsion system, a hybrid battery for peak shaving, and a 27.7 MW gas combustion unit. Gasum and Sirius Shipping jointly ordered the vessel earlier this year, with a scheduled delivery in 2027.

Gasum plans to charter the ship to enhance LNG and bio-LNG availability in the Northwestern European maritime market, where demand is expected to rise in the coming years.

As part of the collaboration with RMK Marine, TGE Marine will provide its Type C Bi-lobe tanks and a cargo handling and fuel gas system for the vessel. According to TGE Marine’s Technical Sales Director, Johannes Dziuba, Type C tanks are capable of handling gases in high-pressure and cryogenic conditions, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of LNG.

“I am very pleased with our close cooperation with RMK Marine resulting in this project. We have prior experience working with Sirius, and we anticipate a successful outcome with the Celsius vessel. This project holds special significance for us as it marks the first vessel being built in Turkey,” stated Johannes Dziuba.

Jonas Backman, Managing Director of Sirius Shipping, expressed his satisfaction with working with TGE Marine once again, highlighting their successful collaboration since 2017 on the ‘Coralius’ vessel. Backman emphasized Sirius Shipping’s vision to be the Long Term First Choice for clients, suppliers, and colleagues, with the use of TGE Marine’s equipment reinforcing their commitment to this vision.

Alongside the Celsius vessel, Sirius Shipping has seven units on order, including one 7,800 cbm LNG bunker vessel, two 15,000 dwt methanol-ready tankers, and four 7,999 dwt tankers.
