Germany’s SEFE Strengthens Energy Security Through LNG Agreement with ADNOC Gas

Germany’s Securing Energy for Europe (SEFE) has taken a significant step towards enhancing Europe’s energy security by expanding its liquefied natural gas (LNG) arsenal through a multi-year supply agreement with ADNOC Gas, a subsidiary of the UAE-headquartered ADNOC.

Valued at approximately $400 million, this three-year supply agreement will see SEFE receive over 0.7 million tonnes of LNG from ADNOC Gas’ Das Island liquefaction facility, known for its production capacity of 6 million tonnes per year. The deliveries are set to commence in the summer of 2025.

This strategic partnership between SEFE and ADNOC Gas aims to strengthen their global footprint and foster long-term relationships with key energy partners, reflecting the ongoing collaboration between the United Arab Emirates and Germany in promoting energy security and sustainable fuel development.

The CEO of ADNOC Gas, Fatema Al Nuaimi, expressed confidence in the agreement, stating, “This agreement strengthens our longstanding partnership with SEFE and reinforces ADNOC Gas’ role as a reliable global energy provider. It sends a clear message about our commitment to supporting energy security and sustainability in Europe.”

ADNOC Gas plays a crucial role in ADNOC Group’s strategy to expand its natural gas production capacity and increase global LNG exports, aligning with the United Arab Emirates’ objectives of sustainable energy growth and economic ties with international markets.

SEFE emphasizes the importance of natural gas as a transitional fuel with lower carbon emissions and as a vital raw material in industrial value chains. The company remains dedicated to ensuring energy security in Germany and Europe by expanding its international portfolio and strengthening global partnerships.

Frederic Barnaud, CCO of SEFE, highlighted the significance of the new LNG contract with ADNOC Gas, stating, “This new medium-term LNG contract adds another flexible source of LNG to our portfolio, benefiting both Europe’s security of supply and our global market trading activities.”

SEFE’s agreement with ADNOC Gas follows recent deals with Venture Global and SOCAR to diversify and secure reliable energy sources for Germany and beyond, demonstrating the company’s proactive approach to energy sustainability and security.
