Green Marine UK Invests in New Subsea Services Department for Offshore Wind Sector

Orkney-based marine services firm Green Marine UK has announced a seven-figure capital investment in a new Subsea Services Department targeting the U.K.’s offshore wind sector. The company expansion, boosted by financial backing from HIE (Highlands and Islands Enterprise), includes the purchase of subsea technology from various industry leaders.

The Subsea Services Department, set to launch in late spring 2025, will offer turnkey solutions and data services tailored to the offshore wind industry. New services will include General Visual Inspection (GVI), 3D survey with real-time SLAM analysis, marine site characterization, multibeam surveys, and O&M monitoring focusing on subsea cables, pipelines, and offshore structures.

Green Marine estimates the market for subsea O&M services in the U.K. offshore wind sector to exceed $340 million by 2030. The company’s Managing Director, Jason Schofield, expressed confidence in the strategic expansion, citing Green Marine’s strong track record in the offshore wind industry.

Myles Metson, Green Marine’s Operations and Technology Director, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing reliable and agile services to clients. With a dedicated in-house team, Green Marine aims to deliver consistent and efficient solutions for offshore wind projects.

Green Marine UK has been involved in major offshore wind projects, including Dogger Bank, Kincardine, Moray East, Triton Knoll, and Greater Gabbard. The company has also supported various offshore wind farm sites under development, such as Neart Na Gaoithe, West of Orkney, Inch Cape, and MachairWind.

With a focus on innovation and expansion, Green Marine UK’s investment in the Subsea Services Department signifies a significant growth opportunity for the company and the offshore wind industry as a whole. By leveraging its expertise and strategic location in Orkney, Green Marine is poised to drive job creation and business expansion in the years to come.
