Green Marine UK Announces Major Investment in Subsea Services Department for Offshore Wind Sector

Green Marine UK is making a significant seven-figure capital investment in a new Subsea Services Department aimed at servicing the growing offshore wind sector in the UK. This expansion, supported by financial backing from HIE (Highlands and Islands Enterprise), includes the acquisition of cutting-edge subsea technology from leading providers such as Rovtech (Seatronics), Sonardyne, Norbit, Voyis, Tritech, Digital Edge Subsea, and EIVA, among others.

The launch of the Subsea Services Department, scheduled for late Spring, will offer comprehensive in-house turnkey solutions and data services. New offerings will encompass General Visual Inspection (GVI), 3D Survey with real-time SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) analysis, Marine Site Characterisation, Multibeam surveys, and O&M monitoring focusing on subsea cables, pipelines, and offshore structures.

Green Marine estimates that the market for subsea O&M services in the UK offshore wind sector could exceed £270 million by 2030, based on insights from detailed studies by OREC (Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult).

A key component of the investment is the acquisition of Rovtech’s VALOR ROV from Seatronics. This state-of-the-art, lightweight ROV has revolutionized data collection and physical intervention in subsea operations. Its adaptability and integration capabilities for advanced sensors make it a valuable asset for modern subsea data collection, particularly in offshore wind, oil and gas, defense, and decommissioning projects.

Green Marine UK has a track record of involvement in prominent offshore wind projects, including Dogger Bank, Kincardine, Moray East, Triton Knoll, and Greater Gabbard. The company has also provided support for various offshore wind farm sites in development, such as Neart Na Gaoithe, West of Orkney, Inch Cape, MachairWind, Caledonia, Muir Mhòr, Pentland, and Salamander.
