French Hydrogen Company HDF Energy Partners with Vietnam Maritime Corporation to Promote Green Hydrogen Technology
French hydrogen player HDF Energy and Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the use of green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies across VIMC’s operations.
As part of the agreement, HDF and VIMC will collaborate on integrating hydrogen technologies into vessels, ports, and logistics operations through joint studies and pilot projects. HDF will focus on developing retrofit and onshore hydrogen solutions, while VIMC will provide operational support and data.
The partnership also aims to secure global climate financing and establish a scalable model for clean maritime energy to support Vietnam’s net-zero 2050 goals.
HDF Energy expressed their commitment to driving clean, reliable, and scalable maritime energy solutions through this collaboration.
Expanding Presence in Asia
This partnership marks HDF’s continued expansion in Asia. In April 2025, HDF Energy Indonesia, a subsidiary of HDF, signed an MoU with the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, PT PLN (Persero), and PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) to explore decarbonizing Indonesia’s maritime sector using locally produced green hydrogen.
In the Philippines, HDF Energy also partnered with the Department of Transportation to utilize green hydrogen for the next generation of hydrogen-fueled maritime vessels. Additionally, in Vietnam, the company joined forces with ACST, affiliated with the Ministry of Construction, to advance green hydrogen solutions, including retrofitting diesel ferries with HDF’s hydrogen fuel cells.
