Heesen Yachts Acquired by Dutch Entrepreneur Laurens Last
Renowned Dutch shipyard, Heesen Yachts, has been acquired by Dutch entrepreneur and investor Laurens Last.
The shipyard, known for engineering and constructing steel and aluminium custom and semi-custom motor yachts ranging from 50 to 80 metres, sees this strategic acquisition as securing Heesen’s future and commitment to Dutch craftsmanship.
Following a record-breaking financial performance in 2024, with revenue reaching €209 million and EBITDA of €17 million, Heesen is poised for a new chapter under Last’s ownership.
Last, a passionate yachtsman, views this acquisition as more than an investment, stating, “Heesen represents the pinnacle of Dutch engineering and maritime craftsmanship. I am honored to take ownership and ensure the brand continues to flourish for generations to come.”
Under Last’s leadership, Heesen will focus on global sales expansion, technological innovation, and excellence in yacht design and construction. Last’s vision aligns with Heesen’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and luxury.
Niels Vaessen, CEO of Heesen Yachts, expressed excitement about Last joining the Heesen family, emphasizing Last’s success as a Dutch entrepreneur with a genuine passion for yachting. Vaessen believes Last’s vision and commitment will propel Heesen into an exciting future.
Founded in 1978, Heesen remains the only fully integrated yacht builder in the Netherlands, controlling every phase of the yacht building process, from concept to final outfitting. The acquisition strengthens Heesen’s mission to push boundaries in yacht design, embrace advanced technologies, and deliver bespoke yachts that set new industry standards.
With a return to Dutch ownership, Heesen is poised for stable growth and committed to delivering unique yachting experiences to its owners, building on its legacy of innovation and craftsmanship.
