Heesen Yachts mourns the loss of its founder, Frans Heesen, who peacefully passed away on 23 April 2025 in Oss, Netherlands. He leaves behind his wife Petra, children, and grandchildren.
Frans Heesen established the renowned Dutch shipyard that bears his name and played a pivotal role in its growth and success.
The shipyard’s statement highlights Frans’ visionary leadership, courage, and talent in identifying and nurturing individuals, which have been instrumental in Heesen Yachts’ achievements.
One of his significant decisions was the construction of the groundbreaking yacht Octopussy in the late 1980s. The project aimed to achieve a record-breaking speed of over 50 knots for a luxury yacht of its size, showcasing Frans’ daring approach and pushing the boundaries of yacht design.
Despite his passing, Frans Heesen’s legacy lives on in the company’s close-knit culture and innovative spirit.
