Norwegian Shipping Company Knutsen Takes Delivery of LNG Carrier for QatarEnergy Charter

Norwegian shipping company Knutsen has taken delivery of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier that will be chartered to QatarEnergy.

Knutsen Group announced on social media that the new 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier, named Mesaieed, was delivered on July 29. This vessel is the second in a series of ten ships that Knutsen will charter to QatarEnergy as part of the latter’s ambitious 128-vessel fleet expansion project.

The first vessel from this series, named Mraikh, was delivered a month ago by South Korea’s HD Hyundai. Knutsen highlighted that the Mesaieed is equipped with advanced energy efficiency features, such as an air lubrication system and LNG-compatible boilers.

QatarEnergy’s fleet expansion project involves multiple partnerships with leading players in the industry. China LNG Shipping (Holdings) Limited recently conducted a naming ceremony for Al Mas’habiyyah, an LNG carrier included in its three-vessel agreement with QatarEnergy.
