Kongsberg Consolidates Maritime Business Units

Kongsberg to Integrate Kongsberg Digital into Kongsberg Maritime

Kongsberg, a leading provider of technology and solutions for the maritime industry, has announced its plans to integrate the maritime-focused business unit Kongsberg Digital into Kongsberg Maritime. This strategic move aims to align the company’s portfolio with the evolving needs of customers and technological advancements in the maritime sector.

The integration of Kongsberg’s business units is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2025. This consolidation will bring together the expertise and resources of both entities to drive innovation and better serve the maritime market.

Key Details of the Integration

The business to be transferred from Kongsberg Digital to Kongsberg Maritime generated revenues of approximately $53 million in 2023. Around 500 employees from 14 countries will be part of this transition, further strengthening Kongsberg Maritime’s workforce and capabilities.

Geir Håøy, President and CEO of Kongsberg, emphasized the strategic importance of this integration, stating, “By consolidating our digital maritime initiatives within Kongsberg Maritime’s integrated portfolio of solutions, we are optimizing our approach to the industry’s transition towards decarbonization and digitalization.”

Focus on Digital Innovation

Following the transfer of maritime operations, Kongsberg Digital will focus on advancing key areas such as digital twin technology, energy simulations, SiteCom, and subsidiary FutureOn. These initiatives have established a strong customer base and market presence, positioning Kongsberg Digital as a leader in digital solutions for various industries.

Thomas Borgen, Chairman of Kongsberg Digital, added, “We will continue to invest in our industrial work surface solutions to support multiple industries. This strategic realignment is fully supported by the Kongsberg Digital Board of Directors, reflecting our commitment to driving digital innovation and growth.”
