Kongsberg Discovery Acquires Naxys Technologies

Kongsberg Discovery Acquires Naxys Technologies

Kongsberg Discovery has announced its acquisition of Naxys Technologies, a leading subsea company based in Bergen known for its innovative technology in detecting oil and gas leaks through sound recognition.

CEO of Kongsberg Discovery, Martin Wien Fjell, emphasized the significance of Naxys’ expertise in passive hydroacoustics as a key factor in the acquisition. Naxys specializes in providing environmental monitoring solutions for the oil and gas industry, while also demonstrating potential for expansion into research and defense sectors.

“Naxys Technologies plays a crucial role in enabling oil and gas companies to swiftly identify and respond to leaks. This capability is increasingly vital as global sustainability standards continue to rise,” Fjell stated.

Fjell further added, “The team in Bergen has established a strong presence in the industry with technology that aligns seamlessly with Kongsberg Discovery’s focus. Environmental monitoring utilizing passive hydroacoustics aligns perfectly with our commitment to sustainability and safety.”

With 28 employees based in Hegreneset, Bergen, Naxys Technologies is projected to achieve a turnover of NOK 100 million ($8.8 million) by 2024, reflecting its growth trajectory and market demand for its specialized solutions.
