Kongsberg Discovery Expands Capabilities with Acquisition of Argeo Technologies

Kongsberg Discovery is making significant strides in enhancing its ability to detect and interpret complex underwater environments with the recent acquisition of three core technologies from Argeo’s bankruptcy estate. The company has finalized an agreement to purchase the Argeo Whisper, Argeo Listen, and Argeo Scope technologies, which will complement its existing product portfolio and bolster its capabilities in electromagnetic sensing.

The newly acquired technologies, Argeo Whisper and Argeo Listen, will provide Kongsberg Discovery with active and passive electromagnetic sensing capabilities, enabling the company to better detect and interpret underwater environments. Additionally, the Argeo Scope technology will integrate seamlessly with Kongsberg Discovery’s digital solution, Blue Insight, enhancing its analytics platform for automated dataflow and ocean data visualization.

President Martin Wien Fjell expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, “The addition of Argeo’s technologies to our sensor portfolio will significantly strengthen our ability to navigate and understand the complexities of underwater environments. We are confident that integrating these technologies with Blue Insight will offer a comprehensive solution for accurate information gathering from the oceans.”

The transfer of intellectual property, software, hardware, and other assets from Argeo is currently underway, with a team of experienced personnel set to join Kongsberg Discovery in the near future. This strategic acquisition underscores Kongsberg Discovery’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in the field of maritime technology.

With the integration of Argeo’s technologies, Kongsberg Discovery is poised to lead the way in cutting-edge solutions for underwater exploration and data analysis. The company’s expanded capabilities in electromagnetic sensing will enable more precise and in-depth exploration of underwater environments, paving the way for new discoveries and advancements in marine research and exploration.
