Kongsberg Maritime has recently secured a contract to design two UT7623 SEV multipurpose subsea vessels for Olympic Group, based in Fosnavåg, Norway.
The UT7623 SEV vessels, standing for “Sustainable Energy Vessel,” will be equipped with methanol-ready capabilities and feature battery hybrid technology. These vessels, scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2027, will operate in both the renewable energy and oil and gas sectors, surpassing the requirements of the Paris Agreement.
Collaborating closely with Olympic, Kongsberg Maritime will integrate advanced technologies into the vessels, including rim-drive electric azimuth propulsion, retractable azimuth bow thrusters, and a range of other cutting-edge systems. These vessels are designed for optimal performance and efficiency in challenging offshore conditions.
Olympic Group’s commitment to sustainability is evident in their investment in these next-generation vessels. The UT7623 SEV vessels mark a significant step towards more environmentally friendly offshore operations.
Olympic’s CEO and president, Stig Remøy, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The UT7623 SEV vessels build on our experience in renewable energy and oil and gas, offering unmatched flexibility and efficiency. With Kongsberg Maritime’s technology, we are once again leading the industry forward.”
Per Kristian Furø, sales director at Kongsberg Maritime, highlighted the vessels’ innovative design and environmental sustainability, emphasizing their low fuel consumption and operational efficiency. These vessels are set to redefine standards in the maritime industry.
