Adira Renewables Launches Geotechnical Survey Vessel in Collaboration with Soiltech Engineering Co Ltd Korea
Adira Renewables, a subsidiary of Singapore’s Kim Heng, has unveiled a state-of-the-art geotechnical survey vessel in partnership with Soiltech Engineering Co Ltd Korea (STE). The vessel, named Bridgewater Discovery, was rebuilt and converted in 2024 and has now been christened and launched into the water.
The DP2 vessel spans 76 meters in length and boasts a 20-meter beam. It features a heave-compensated twin tower drilling rig capable of drilling up to 300 meters below the seabed. Additionally, the vessel is equipped with advanced soil testing equipment, including WISON-APB-Classic CPT, Seismic CPT, and Geomil Manta 200 seabed CPT systems. It also houses a 60-ton knuckle boom crane with man-riding capability and offers accommodation for up to 59 personnel along with a 55m2 soil laboratory.
Adira Renewables entered into a vessel framework agreement (VFA) with an international major client in February 2024. This agreement involves providing offshore geotechnical investigation services for various geotechnical survey projects related to offshore wind farm development in Korea. The collaboration between Kim Heng and STE aims to conduct geotechnical survey works in the pre-construction phase of significant offshore wind farm projects, leveraging STE’s expertise in soil investigation.
This strategic partnership signifies a milestone in the offshore services sector, bringing together cutting-edge technology and specialized knowledge to drive advancements in geotechnical surveying for sustainable offshore energy projects.
