UAE’s Lamprell and Taiwan’s Dong Fang Offshore Collaborate on Wind Turbine Installation Vessel

UAE-based fabricator Lamprell has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Taiwanese owner and operator Dong Fang Offshore to collaborate on the construction of a new wind turbine installation and maintenance vessel. The vessel, designed by GustoMSC and named NG-9000X, will be built in compliance with Taiwanese shipping regulations.

The NG-9000X vessel will be equipped with a heavy-lift crane, DP-2 positioning system, legs with spud cans for challenging conditions, accommodation quarters, and the capability to transport and install two 15MW-class turbines simultaneously.

This agreement sets the stage for a partnership between Dong Fang Offshore, Lamprell, and potential clients in the region. The collaboration aims to develop a cost-effective and reliable vessel solution tailored to the needs of offshore wind projects in Taiwan.

Commenting on the collaboration, Polin Chen, CEO of Dong Fang Offshore, expressed appreciation for Lamprell’s commitment to partnering in the development of a solution for the ongoing growth and maintenance of offshore wind projects in Taiwan.
