Lloyd’s Register and China Cruise Limited Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

Lloyd’s Register (LR) and China Cruise Limited (China Cruises) have recently announced a strategic cooperation framework agreement aimed at collaborating on various key areas within the cruise industry. The agreement will focus on cruise safety, technology R&D, green transition, and digitalization.

LR, known for its expertise in maritime classification services, recently provided full classification services for China’s first domestically built large luxury cruise ship, Adora Magic City. Building on this successful partnership, LR and China Cruises are now set to work together to leverage local project experience and global technical expertise.

LR holds a dominant market share of over 40% in the global fleet of operating and newly built large cruise ships, solidifying its leading position in the industry for nearly two decades. The organization operates four Cruise Centers of Expertise located in China, the UK, Italy, and the US, with a dedicated global team of over 220 cruise surveyors. This team provides comprehensive technical support throughout the design, construction, operation, and management phases of cruise ships.

This strategic cooperation between LR and China Cruises highlights a commitment to advancing safety, technology, sustainability, and digital innovation within the cruise industry. By combining LR’s extensive experience and China Cruises’ local insights, the collaboration aims to drive progress and excellence in cruise ship operations and services.

Both companies are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of innovation and setting new standards for the future of cruise travel. With a shared focus on quality, safety, and environmental responsibility, LR and China Cruises are poised to make meaningful contributions to the ongoing development of the cruise industry.
