Japan’s Inpex Unveils Organizational Changes to Align with New Corporate Strategy
Japan’s energy company Inpex has recently announced a series of organizational and branding changes aimed at enhancing its business framework in line with the new corporate strategy for the next decade.
These changes are designed to support the implementation of the company’s vision and ensure that the framework is well-suited to the current business landscape. The organizational adjustments will come into effect on April 1, 2025.
Inpex’s Organizational Restructuring
One of the key changes includes renaming and reorganizing the current Technical Division into the Technical Headquarters. Units such as Exploration Strategy, Digital Technology, Geoscience, Subsurface Development, and Well Engineering will be established at Inpex headquarters, leading to the discontinuation of corresponding regional units.
The Hydrogen & CCUS Development Division will be restructured as the Low Carbon Solutions Division, while the Renewable Energy Division will be renamed to the Renewables, Power & Energy Solutions Division. These changes aim to bolster the renewable energy and electric power businesses within the company.
The Business Development Unit, New Ventures & Global Exploration Division will be transferred to the Corporate Strategy & Planning Division and reorganized as the Business Development Unit to facilitate company-wide portfolio management.
Other changes include reorganizing the Global Energy Marketing Division, integrating the Marine Transportation Unit into the Supply Management Unit, and establishing units focusing on compliance, supply chain, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Inpex Vision 2035
The organizational restructuring aligns with Inpex’s new vision for 2035 – Realizing a Responsible Energy Transition. This vision outlines the company’s long-term strategy in response to global energy shifts and the evolving business environment, with a mid-term plan detailing specific goals for the 2025–2027 period.
Inpex aims to sustain a stable energy supply through oil and natural gas while actively contributing to the decarbonization of society. The company plans to expand its natural gas and LNG business, provide lower-carbon solutions through CCS and hydrogen, and drive initiatives in the energy and resources sectors to progress towards net zero by 2050.
The introduction of new corporate branding reflects these changes, with the company adopting the message ‘Energy for a brighter future’ to signify its commitment to leveraging Earth’s resources, expanding globally, and addressing energy challenges while focusing on the future.
These organizational changes follow the recent selection of a virtual simulator developed by a Royal HaskoningDHV affiliate to advance Inpex’s Abadi LNG project in Indonesia.
