Carbon Ridge’s Onboard Carbon Capture System Receives Design Basis Approval from DNV

Carbon Ridge, a leading provider of maritime emission reduction solutions, has achieved a significant milestone with the Design Basis Approval (DBA) from DNV for its innovative Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS).

The DBA signifies that Carbon Ridge’s OCCS has met DNV’s stringent safety and regulatory standards, paving the way for future type approval and commercial deployment. This achievement sets the stage for the upcoming installation of Carbon Ridge’s system on a vessel, marking a crucial step towards reducing carbon emissions in the global shipping industry.

Engineered specifically for maritime operations, Carbon Ridge’s OCCS technology offers a remarkable 90%+ reduction in CO₂ emissions and effectively eliminates over 99.9% of particulate matter, NOₓ, and SOₓ. This comprehensive solution not only ensures compliance with global emissions regulations but also exceeds them, setting a new standard for sustainability in the maritime sector.

One of the key features of Carbon Ridge’s OCCS is its compact size, which sets it apart from traditional carbon capture systems. With up to a 75% reduction in equipment size and volume, the OCCS offers a space-efficient solution without compromising on performance.

Chase Dwyer, CEO and Founder of Carbon Ridge, expressed his excitement about receiving Design Basis Approval, stating, “Securing Design Basis Approval from DNV is a major validation of our technology and a critical milestone as we move toward full-scale commercialization.”

Craig Koehne, Maritime Regional Manager, Americas at DNV, emphasized the importance of onboard carbon capture in the maritime industry’s transition to low- and zero-carbon fuels. He stated, “Carbon Ridge’s OCCS unit is another piece in the puzzle as we look to broaden the portfolio of solutions available to support the maritime industry’s decarbonization goals.”
