Copenhagen Offshore Partners and LS Marine Solution Partner for Haesong Offshore Wind Farm
A new milestone has been reached in the offshore wind industry as Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) and LS Marine Solution have recently inked a preferred supplier agreement (PSA) for the 1 GW Haesong offshore wind farm in South Korea. COP, representing Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), is spearheading the development of this ambitious project.
As per the agreement, LS Marine Solution has been designated as the preferred supplier for subsea cable installation work, which includes a comprehensive scope covering marine surveys, cable laying and burial, and cable testing. The Korean company has revealed its intention to deploy its state-of-the-art cable laying vessel (CLV) for the execution of this offshore wind project.
The Haesong offshore wind farm is slated to be situated off the west coast of Shinan, Jeonnam, and is designed in two phases – Haesong 1 and Haesong 3 – each with a capacity of 504 MW. This endeavor aligns with CIP’s broader strategy of expanding its offshore wind portfolio in South Korea.
CIP’s involvement in the South Korean offshore wind sector also includes the successful commissioning of the 96 MW Jeonnam 1 offshore wind project, a joint venture with SK Innovation E&S. LS Marine Solution had previously contributed as a supplier for this operational project, showcasing their expertise in the field.
Furthermore, LS Cable & System, the parent company of LS Marine Solution, has recently secured two additional preferred supplier agreements for CIP’s ventures in South Korea. These agreements cover the Haewoori Offshore Wind 3 project and the 504 MW Taenan offshore wind farm, highlighting the continued collaboration between the two entities in the region.
