Luxcara Awards Geoquip Marine Contract for Waterekke Offshore Wind Farm

Luxcara has recently announced the awarding of a contract to Geoquip Marine for the main geotechnical investigation of its Waterekke offshore wind farm project in the German North Sea.

The scope of Geoquip Marine’s work will involve conducting a comprehensive geotechnical campaign to assess subsurface conditions. The data gathered will be crucial in supporting the planning, design, and timely completion of the Waterekke offshore wind farm.

The fieldwork for this project is expected to be finalized by 2025. This collaboration comes on the heels of the successful partnership between Luxcara and Geoquip Marine on the Waterkant offshore wind farm in 2024.

Luxcara secured the rights to develop the 1.5 GW Waterekke project in the 2024 offshore wind auction. Situated at the N-9.3 site, approximately 85 kilometers northwest of the German island of Helgoland, the offshore wind farm is slated to be connected to the national transmission grid by 2029.

Aside from Waterekke, Luxcara is also actively involved in the development of the Waterkant project in the German North Sea. Positioned around 90 kilometers off the island of Borkum, this wind farm is projected to have a capacity of about 270 MW.

Once operational, the Waterkant project is expected to supply clean electricity to around 400,000 households. Furthermore, it will play a significant role in Germany’s pursuit of achieving an 80% renewable energy share in its power mix by 2030.
