MacArtney Offshore Wind Solutions Secures Contract for Integrated Cable Lay Spread for N-Sea’s CLV Altera

MacArtney Offshore Wind Solutions, in partnership with Subsea Cable Assets (SCA) and Enersea, has been awarded a contract to design and deliver a fully integrated cable lay spread for N-Sea’s new cable laying vessel, Altera.

The collaboration brings together MacArtney’s advanced mission equipment and control systems, SCA’s fabrication and EPCI expertise, and Enersea’s deck layout and integration design to create a tailored solution for offshore wind cable installation and repairs.

The integrated cable lay spread features a 4,500t carousel, an automated loading tower with integrated tensioner, a 15t tracked deck tensioner, a quadrant and quadrant handling system with sliding banks, cable highways, retractable stern chutes, and a variety of winches.

This turnkey system is designed to enhance operational efficiency, ensure safety, and enable swift mobilization, customized to meet the specific demands of the Altera vessel. The package includes concept and layout design, hardware delivery, and seamless execution, all aimed at minimizing disruptions during the construction process.

Delivery and mobilization of the integrated cable lay spread onboard the Altera are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

Quotes from Industry Experts

Mike Welling, Business Development Manager at MacArtney Offshore Wind Solutions, commented on the collaboration, stating, “By joining forces with SCA and Enersea, we’ve brought together the best of three worlds—innovative technology, smart engineering, and robust execution.”
