The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation Welcomes Admiral Tim Gallaudet to its Board of Trustees
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation has recently announced the appointment of the Honorable Tim Gallaudet, PhD, Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy (ret), and CEO of Ocean STL Consulting, to its esteemed Board of Trustees.
Adm. Gallaudet is widely recognized for his strategic acumen in fostering connections across diverse sectors to unite them towards common goals. His extensive network spans ocean science and exploration luminaries, conservation advocates, military and naval intelligence professionals, technology innovators, and ocean business leaders.
As the CEO of Ocean STL Consulting, Adm. Gallaudet provides strategic counsel to various technology startups, research institutions, and philanthropic organizations. Prior to this role, he held key positions within the U.S. government, including acting Under Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere and Assistant Secretary of Commerce, as well as Deputy Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
During his tenure at NOAA, Adm. Gallaudet oversaw a wide range of responsibilities, including managing national marine sanctuaries, fisheries, weather services, and environmental research. He championed NOAA’s Blue Economy initiatives and spearheaded the agency’s efforts in advancing marine transportation, sustainable seafood production, ocean exploration, coastal resilience, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies in marine science.
With over three decades of service in the U.S. Navy, Adm. Gallaudet brings a wealth of experience in oceanography, meteorology, hydrography, and navigation to his current role. He has also served on various advisory boards and councils, further enhancing his expertise in marine affairs.
As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary, Adm. Gallaudet’s leadership and influence in marine science, exploration, conservation, and technology will undoubtedly propel the Foundation towards new horizons. His involvement is poised to strengthen partnerships, engage communities, and drive innovation in marine sanctuaries, aligning with the Foundation’s core mission of safeguarding America’s public waters.
