Turnwell Joint Venture Sets New Benchmark with Record Well Delivery Time

Three players, two incorporated in the United States (U.S.) and one in the Middle East, recently set up a new joint venture, named Turnwell, which has successfully completed the first batch of wells in its initial 144-well program in under 20 days.

ADNOC Drilling, in partnership with SLB and Patterson-UTI, established Turnwell Industries as its unconventional drilling arm, aiming to unlock the UAE’s unconventional energy resources to meet global energy demands. The $1.7 billion contract has enabled the rapid delivery of these first wells, setting a new industry benchmark.

Abdulrahman Abdulla Al Seiari, CEO of ADNOC Drilling, emphasized the significance of the achievement, stating, “This joint venture is a groundbreaking achievement and is already paying dividends through the significant reduction in well delivery time as seen through the first wells being delivered in record time.”

The joint venture, with ADNOC Drilling holding a majority stake, has already delivered the fastest well time of 19.9 days in the 144 well drilling campaign. Utilizing advanced technology and innovative drilling designs, Turnwell aims to deliver low-cost wells efficiently.

With a focus on AI smart drilling and production solutions, Turnwell is poised to secure the UAE’s unconventional energy needs. The JV plans to leverage cutting-edge technologies to maximize operational efficiency and unlock vast energy resources within the region.

ADNOC’s commitment to decarbonization and sustainable energy practices is evident in its latest project, a massive sour gas development off the coast of the UAE. The project aims to operate with zero emissions by integrating nuclear and renewable energy sources.
