The Launch of Maritime AI Innovation Lab

A consortium comprising Damen, TU Delft, SafeSystems, RH Marine, NHL Stenden University of Applied Science, and MARIN has initiated the Maritime AI Innovation Lab. This collaborative effort aims to revolutionize the maritime industry by enhancing ship designs and operations.

The lab offers a versatile development environment that combines physical modeling, scale model measurements, simulators, and real-world operations. By integrating cutting-edge AI techniques, the lab strives to create dependable AI models that can lead to improved fuel efficiency, proactive maintenance, and enhanced safety protocols.

Focus Areas

The inaugural tracks of the lab will focus on “safety & workability” and “emission reduction.” These tracks will delve into crucial elements such as sea state analysis, engine performance optimization, and hull interaction studies. The goal is to establish best practices for data sharing and collaboration within the maritime sector.

Industry Engagement

Interested Dutch companies are encouraged to participate in the lab’s workshops to propose and discuss new research tracks. By involving industry stakeholders in shaping the lab’s agenda, the consortium aims to foster innovation and drive meaningful advancements in maritime technologies.

The Maritime AI Innovation Lab presents a unique opportunity for companies to explore the potential of AI-driven solutions in the maritime sector. Through collaborative efforts and shared expertise, the lab seeks to redefine the future of ship design, operations, and sustainability.
