Next Geosolutions Acquires Geophysical Survey Vessel from SeaMar Subsea

Italian offshore services provider Next Geosolutions (NextGeo) has recently made a significant acquisition, purchasing a geophysical survey vessel from Dutch company SeaMar Subsea for $21.5 million. The vessel, formerly known as Deep Helder, will now be renamed NG Surveyor and will play a crucial role in NextGeo’s operations.

The NG Surveyor, built in 2014, boasts impressive specifications with a length of 64.8 meters and a width of 15.8 meters. It features a spacious 500 m2 deck space and is equipped with a Dynamic Positioning Class II (DP2) system, allowing for precise positioning during survey activities. The vessel can accommodate up to 48 personnel, ensuring efficient and effective operations.

Upon taking ownership of the vessel, NextGeo plans to undertake refitting work to install high-specification equipment. This includes 3 Multibeam Echosounders (MBS), a Sub Bottom Profiler (SBP), and an acoustic positioning system (USBL). These upgrades will significantly enhance the vessel’s capabilities, enabling it to conduct high-resolution surveys in various water depths, including ‘full ocean depth’ up to 11,000 meters.

Giovanni Ranieri, CEO of NextGeo, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “The completion of this acquisition, announced during our IPO, is part of our growth and development strategy outlined at the time of listing. It allows us to enhance both our fleet and our survey service offerings. With the purchase of this new multipurpose vessel, we further solidify our position as a leading company in the sector, particularly considering the increasing number of projects and business opportunities both nationally and internationally.”

Next Geosolutions’ acquisition of the NG Surveyor signifies a significant milestone for the company, showcasing its commitment to expanding its capabilities and enhancing its services. The addition of this state-of-the-art vessel will undoubtedly bolster NextGeo’s position in the offshore services industry and open up new opportunities for growth and success.
