Exciting New Offshore Drilling Assignment in the Gulf of Mexico for Noble Corporation

U.S. offshore drilling contractor Noble Corporation has secured a new offshore drilling assignment in the Gulf of Mexico for its drillship, the Noble Globetrotter I. This exciting opportunity comes from a contract with an undisclosed energy player for one firm well with the potential for up to six optional wells. The total duration of the contract could span around 200 days, with an estimated contract value of $70 million if all options are exercised.

Blake Denton, Noble’s SVP of Marketing and Contracts, expressed enthusiasm about the new assignment, stating: “This contract represents a great opportunity for our customer to benefit from the fuel-efficient and versatile Globetrotter class technology.”

Previously, the Noble Globetrotter I drillship was engaged in plug and abandonment work for Shell in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Following an extension of the contract, the drillship is now gearing up for its new assignment in early January 2025.

The 2011-built Noble Globetrotter I drillship, known for its maximum drilling depth of 40,000 feet and ability to operate in water depths of up to 10,000 feet, continues to demonstrate its capabilities in the offshore drilling industry. With accommodation for 180 people, this state-of-the-art rig is well-equipped for challenging drilling operations.

Amidst its recent successes in the Gulf of Mexico and western Africa, Noble Corporation remains optimistic about future opportunities in the offshore drilling market. While the company anticipates a softer utilization environment in 2025, projections suggest a potential upturn in late 2025 and 2026.
