Shell Awards New Contract to Noble Corporation’s Drillship

UK-based energy supermajor Shell has awarded a new contract to one of Noble Corporation’s drillships.

Noble announced via social media that a one firm well plus one option well deal was awarded to the Noble Viking rig.

The contract, a direct continuation of a previous one, is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The 2014-built drillship will be earning an estimated value of $14 million for the 30-day contract, excluding mobilization and demobilization fees, equivalent to a day rate of approximately $460,000.

Currently operating for Shell off Malaysia at a day rate of $442,000, the Noble Viking will conclude its current contract in June 2025 before moving to work for Prime offshore the Philippines. The new deal with Prime commands a day rate of $499,000 and is expected to last until November this year.
