Noble Corporation’s Ocean GreatWhite Semi-Submersible Rig to Undergo Yard Stay at Green Yard Feda
U.S.-headquartered offshore drilling giant Noble Corporation has scheduled a yard stay at Green Yard Feda in southern Norway for the Ocean GreatWhite semi-submersible rig, touted as one of the world’s largest and most advanced harsh-environment drilling rigs.
The Ocean GreatWhite, designed by Moss Maritime (CS60E), entered service in 2016 and is equipped to operate in water depths of up to 3,000 meters, with drilling capabilities reaching depths of 10,670 meters. The rig, currently working with BP in the North Sea, will be arriving at Green Yard Feda for maintenance following its operations near Shetland.
CEO of Green Yard, Hans Jørgen Fedog, expressed his pride in welcoming the Ocean GreatWhite to the facility, highlighting the yard’s expertise in handling high-specification offshore units and commitment to sustainable shipyard services.
Green Yard Feda’s strategic location and establishment of a branch office in Stavanger have positioned it well to support complex offshore assets like the Ocean GreatWhite rig. The upcoming yard stay will involve maintenance, demobilization, and upgrade activities to ensure the rig’s operational excellence.
Fedog emphasized the collaboration between Noble Corporation and Green Yard Feda, emphasizing a shared focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainable responsibility. Noble Corporation has recently secured new drilling assignments for its rig fleet, including a drilling campaign offshore Papua New Guinea in partnership with TotalEnergies.
