Norden Lines Up Two Capesize Newbuilding Leases

Norden Expands Capesize Fleet with Newbuilding Leases

Danish shipping company Norden has recently announced the addition of two Capesize newbuilding leases with purchase options, further solidifying its commitment to building a modern and highly efficient Capesize fleet. The vessels are set to be constructed in Japan, with expected deliveries scheduled for 2026 and 2027.

With the inclusion of these new vessels, Norden’s core fleet of owned and leased Capesize ships now totals 13, including seven newbuildings, all with an average age of just two years. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing the company’s ability to provide reliable service to customers while staying at the forefront of sustainable and cost-effective shipping in the face of an aging fleet and a historically low orderbook.

In addition to its owned and leased vessels, Norden currently operates a fleet of 10 chartered Capesize vessels on the water, catering to major customers in the mining sector. The Capesize segment plays a crucial role in Norden’s global freight service for dry and liquid bulk cargo, with a fleet that spans approximately 450 vessels in total.
