North Sea Giant Secures Two New Contracts for Offshore Wind Projects
Marine construction contractor Ocean Installer, a subsidiary of Moreld, has announced that the North Sea Giant subsea construction vessel has been awarded two new contracts in the offshore wind market.
The 2011-built vessel will be utilized for cable repair and cable installation projects, with an estimated duration of three months for each contract.
Mobilization for the cable repair job has already commenced, with the subsequent project scheduled for the third and fourth quarters of this year.
While the exact value of the contracts was not disclosed, they were described as sizeable, falling within the range of NOK 100m to NOK 500m ($10m to $50m).
The North Sea Giant is a DP3 construction vessel equipped with a 400-ton active heave-compensated crane, a 150t vertical lay spread system, and two work-class ROVs.
Furthermore, Ocean Installer has secured a firm charter with optional periods for the vessel extending into 2029, demonstrating a long-term commitment to the offshore wind market.
