Danish Firm Cadeler Signs Vessel Reservation Agreement with Ocean Winds for BC-Wind Offshore Wind Farm

Danish offshore wind installation company Cadeler has recently entered into a vessel reservation agreement with Ocean Winds for the installation of wind turbine generators at the BC-Wind offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. This agreement is estimated to have a potential value ranging between $49 million and $58 million.

Under this agreement, Cadeler will be responsible for the installation and transportation of approximately 30 wind turbines at the BC-Wind offshore wind farm. The company plans to utilize one of its O-class vessels for this project, which is scheduled for completion in 2028.

While Cadeler and Ocean Winds have collaborated on projects in the past, such as the Moray West offshore wind farm in Scotland, this marks the first direct contractual relationship between the two companies.

BC-Wind is a significant offshore wind farm with a capacity of up to 500 MW, located about 23 km from the Polish coastline, north of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Cadeler’s CEO, Mikkel Gleerup, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Ocean Winds and the opportunity to contribute to the development of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea region.

Previous Projects and Future Endeavors

In October 2024, Cadeler secured firm contracts with Equinor and Polenergia joint ventures for the installation of two offshore wind farms, Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3, in the Polish Baltic Sea, with operations set to commence in 2027.

Earlier that year, the company also signed a contract with Ørsted and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna for the transport and installation of SiemensGamesa 14 MW wind turbines at Baltica 2, a part of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm, scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

In July 2023, Cadeler secured a project with Baltic Power for the installation of 76 Vestas 15 MW offshore wind turbines at the Baltic Power offshore wind farm. Installation work is expected to begin in 2025, with the 1.2 GW wind farm projected to be completed in 2026.

With a strong track record and a growing presence in the offshore wind industry, Cadeler continues to expand its portfolio and contribute to the advancement of renewable energy in Europe.
