Bestream Offshore Secures Contract for Retrofit Installation of Corrosion Protection System

Bestream Offshore, a key player in OEG Energy Group’s subsea division, has recently announced the successful acquisition of a contract from TenneT. This contract pertains to the retrofit installation of a corrosion protection system for the SylWin alpha offshore converter station, which is crucial for the offshore grid connection SylWin1 in Germany.

The scope of the project involves the installation of an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system to replace the existing faulty system. This upgrade is essential for maintaining the structural integrity and longevity of the offshore converter station.

Prior to the installation of the new ICCP system, a comprehensive pre-survey will be conducted using advanced technology such as a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) with multibeam sonar capabilities. This survey aims to assess the condition of the work area, identify any potential obstructions, and ensure a smooth installation process.

Bluestream, the subsea installation specialist under OEG Energy Group, will be responsible for routing and securing subsea cables, installing and connecting ICCP buoy-mounted anodes, and ensuring proper positioning around the jacket structure. Additionally, concrete mattresses will be laid to protect and stabilize the cables, followed by commissioning, functional testing, and a thorough as-left survey to verify operational integrity.

The installation activities will be carried out from a dynamic positioning class 2 Dive Support Vessel (DSV) equipped with a walk-to-work system. This vessel will house a dedicated offshore crew consisting of divers, ROV pilots, and supervisors to oversee the subsea installation operations.

Rutger Lieverse, Commercial Manager at Bluestream, expressed his pride in TenneT’s ongoing trust in their capabilities and the honor of being awarded the ICCP installation works at SylWin alpha. This project signifies another successful milestone in their collaboration with TenneT, highlighting their commitment to delivering excellence in offshore solutions.
