Ocean Power Technologies Awarded Contract for Multiple WAM-V USVs

Ocean Power Technologies, a U.S.-based marine power, data, and service solutions company, has secured a significant contract for the delivery of multiple WAM-V unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) to certain Allied Forces.

The contract encompasses the supply of vehicles, integrated sensors, and operators as part of a contractor-owned contractor-operated (COCO) delivery scheduled for late Spring 2025.

Given the confidential nature of the arrangement, specific terms of the contract have not been publicly disclosed.

This award represents a milestone for OPT, further solidifying its position in the market following the successful deployment of its vehicles and PowerBuoy technology for various maritime security applications, including autonomous Maritime Domain Awareness, Counter Unmanned Underwater Vehicles, and Mine Counter Measure Solutions in regions such as North America, Latin America, and the Middle East.

OPT’s CEO and President, Philipp Stratmann, expressed confidence in the value of their systems for enhancing ocean security: “We believe this agreement underscores the critical role our technology plays in shaping the future of maritime security. Leveraging versatile USVs like our WAM-V offers a cost-effective means to bolster surface and seabed warfare capabilities for the U.S. Government and Allied Forces. The dual-use capabilities of our solutions enable us to cater to a diverse range of customers.”
