OPT Secures Contract for AI-capable PowerBuoy for Immediate Delivery in the US

Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) has recently announced that they have secured a contract for an AI-capable PowerBuoy for immediate delivery in the United States.

This contract will allow for the future integration of surface and subsea sensors, with the buoy set to be deployed on the East Coast. While specific details of the contract have not been disclosed due to confidentiality agreements, OPT is thrilled about this development.

OPT’s CEO and President, Philipp Stratmann, expressed his excitement about the growth of their PowerBuoy business, stating, “In addition to the material growth of our WAM-V business, we are excited to continue growing our PowerBuoy business. We believe that providing persistent and resident monitoring offers a lot of opportunities for our solutions in research and security applications.”

Stratmann further highlighted the benefits of offering proven technology solutions, making it easier for potential customers to integrate additional WAM-Vs and PowerBuoys into their operations.

With this new contract in place, OPT is poised to further establish itself as a leader in the field of autonomous ocean energy solutions. The deployment of the AI-capable PowerBuoy on the East Coast will showcase the capabilities of OPT’s technology in providing reliable and efficient monitoring solutions for various applications.

As OPT continues to expand its presence in the marine technology industry, this contract marks another significant milestone in the company’s growth trajectory. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, OPT is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of the market and drive advancements in autonomous ocean energy solutions.
