Fugro Secures $340 Million in Subsea Inspection Contracts
Fugro, a leading provider of geotechnical, survey, subsea, and geoscience services, has announced the signing of four significant contracts for subsea inspection services. The contracts, set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 and extend over four years with possible one-year extensions, have a combined value of approximately $340 million.
Each of the four day-rate contracts is allocated to a dedicated vessel, with two vessels operated by Fugro and two by partner companies. All vessels will be equipped with Fugro’s state-of-the-art remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) for comprehensive and precise inspection and monitoring of subsea assets.
Three out of the four contracts, including the one awarded to Fugro Aquarius, will replace existing contracts that are expiring later this year, offering improved terms and conditions. The fourth contract is a new addition to Fugro’s portfolio.
One of the key highlights of these contracts is the expansion of Fugro’s innovative remote operations capabilities, which include remote piloting of ROVs. This cutting-edge technique was successfully implemented in Brazil in 2023 from the Fugro Aquarius in collaboration with Petrobras. By shifting personnel from the field to office environments, this approach enhances operational efficiency and enables real-time data analysis for faster decision-making.
This project was a significant contributor to Fugro’s 12-month backlog as of March 2025, as indicated in the company’s latest financial results.
