Petrobras Extends FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis Charter

Brazilian state-owned oil and gas major Petrobras has announced the extension of the charter of the Modec-owned FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis, operating off the coast of Brazil. The FPSO, situated on the Tupi field in the Santos basin, has been in operation since October 2010 and was the first high-capacity FPSO to operate in the pre-salt layer.

Contract Extension and Upgrades

The recent extension will see the FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis continue its operations for an additional five years, until 2030. This extension is accompanied by planned upgrades to enhance production reliability, efficiency, operational safety, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The unit, with a production potential exceeding 50,000 barrels per day, can process up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day and 5 million cubic meters of gas.

Tupi Field and Production

Operated by Petrobras, the Tupi field is one of the world’s largest fields, with production capacity that would rival many countries in the world oil production ranking. Partners in the Tupi field include Shell, Petrogal, and PPSA, with a total of seven units currently producing on the field.

The amendments to the charter and planned upgrades for the FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis signify a commitment to sustainable production practices and operational excellence in the oil and gas industry.
