Petrobras Explores Opportunities in Argentina, Advances Projects in Colombia and Africa

At the CERAWeek conference in Houston, Petrobras‘ exploration and production head, Sylvia dos Anjos, revealed that the company is eyeing potential opportunities in Argentina while making strides in projects in Colombia and Africa.

Anjos highlighted the appeal of gas from the Vaca Muerta region in Argentina, considering a pipeline connecting Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil for transportation. Additionally, Petrobras is open to exploring oil opportunities in Argentina as part of its strategy to replenish oil reserves through overseas ventures due to challenges in obtaining environmental licenses for drilling in Brazil.

In Colombia, Petrobras is in the process of formulating the development plan for an offshore project where a significant gas reserve of 6 trillion cubic feet has been discovered. The company is awaiting government approval for the project, which aims to supply 13 million cubic meters per day of gas to Colombia through a pipeline.

Turning to Africa, Petrobras is gearing up for exploratory drilling in an oil block in Sao Tome and Principe, scheduled for July to August. Additionally, the company plans to drill in another area in South Africa in the latter half of the year.

With a focus on diversifying its portfolio and expanding its presence in key regions, Petrobras continues to pursue strategic opportunities that align with its long-term growth objectives.
