Petrobras Launches Tender for 18 Platform Supply Vessels

Brazilian state-owned oil and gas giant Petrobras has announced a significant tender for the chartering of up to 18 platform supply vessels. The selection process will adhere to Petrobras’ closed-bid model, with pricing and technical specifications playing crucial roles in the evaluation process. Interested parties have until May 19 to submit their proposals.

The tender encompasses a variety of vessel types, including general cargo PSVs, multipurpose or fluid carrier PSVs, and hybrid PSVs. The contracts for these vessels will span four years, with varying commencement dates based on the vessel type. All platform suppliers must have a deadweight of either 3,000 or 4,500 tonnes.

The first lot of vessels is scheduled to commence operations in January 2026, with subsequent lots starting in May and September of the same year. This tender comes on the heels of three other ongoing PSV tenders by Petrobras, potentially adding up to 26 new vessels to their fleet in the near future.

According to industry experts at WSB Advisors, this tender marks Petrobras’ largest since 2023 when the company sought to charter 20 and 21 vessels. The current tender for 18 vessels demonstrates Petrobras’ commitment to expanding and optimizing its offshore operations.

Earlier this month, Petrobras also launched a separate tender for six platform suppliers, with a contract duration of 1,460 days. This flurry of tender activity underscores Petrobras’ focus on securing reliable and efficient vessel support for its offshore activities.
