RBR Ltd Integrates Hydromea’s LUMA™ FLEX Optical Modem for Wireless Data Transmission

RBR Ltd (RBR), a leading provider of oceanographic instrumentation, has recently announced an exciting partnership with Hydromea to integrate their LUMA™ FLEX optical modem into RBR’s range of standard loggers. This collaboration opens up new possibilities for wireless data transmission in subsea environments.

The incorporation of Hydromea’s LUMA™ FLEX technology into RBR’s instruments allows users to seamlessly collect and transmit large volumes of oceanographic data wirelessly, particularly when using Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). This advancement is crucial in supporting the growing demands of the ocean economy.

To showcase the capabilities of this innovative integration, Hydromea will be hosting a dock demo at the upcoming Ocean Business event in Southampton from April 8-10, 2025. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the LUMA™ FLEX-enabled RBRconcerto3 CTD in action, wirelessly transmitting conductivity, temperature, and depth data from Southampton dock. The demo will be running daily throughout the event, giving industry professionals a unique experience of live subsea data collection with data being harvested wirelessly by Hydromea’s EXRAY™ ROV.
