Maritime autonomy software developer Robosys Automation has introduced Pioneer, its latest autonomous trials vessel, designed to facilitate the integration of maritime software and hardware with its VOYAGER AI suite of maritime autonomy and vessel control systems.
The 6.75m SeaPro Centre Console 222 vessel, supplied by Kirby Marine, is equipped with a Suzuki DF 250 APX outboard engine.
The vessel, which features a Dometic Seastar steering system and a Furuno radar, was chosen for its durability and adaptability.
These components, along with a Suzuki outboard motor, were integrated with the VOYAGER AI software.
Stationed in Rhode Island, US, the Pioneer will be utilised by Robosys’ teams across the globe, including their new US office, for various trials and testing activities.
Robosys CEO and founder Aditya Nawab said: “We are delighted to have commissioned Robosys’ new autonomous trials boat, as it will enable us to demonstrate our abilities and also rigorously test our systems for our clients.”
Robosys’ VOYAGER AI software enables motorised vessels to function as fully autonomous unmanned surface vessels (USVs), supporting independent navigation, collision avoidance, and dynamic route optimisation up to IMO Degree 4 Maritime Autonomy.
The software can be installed on new vessels or retrofitted to any motorised vessel ranging from 2m to 320m.
The VOYAGER AI software is fully agnostic, allowing for seamless integration with third-party steering, drive, and motor control systems.
Robosys also offers additional features for VOYAGER AI, such as the COLREGS-compliant Collision Avoidance Decision Aid (CADA) and Voyager Platform Control for remote steering and engine management.
Additional options include Voyager Platform Management, which provides alarm monitoring as well as switch and relay control.
Last month, Robosys Automation opened its new UK headquarters in Southampton to support global expansion.
