Saab Acquires Deform AB in Sweden

Saab, a leading defense and security company, has recently completed the acquisition of Deform AB in Degerfors, Sweden. Deform is a well-established forming company with a history dating back to 1907, specializing in hot and cold forming of metallic materials. The company has four main business areas: pressure vessels, protection, heavy fabrication, and heavy equipment.

With 37 employees, Deform has built a strong reputation for its expertise in shaping tough and demanding materials. The acquisition by Saab further strengthens the security of the supply chain for the Swedish defense industry.

One of the key reasons for the acquisition is Deform’s longstanding relationship with Saab. The company has been a trusted supplier of specialty parts for Saab’s submarine production, playing a crucial role in Kockums’ supply chain.

Benefits of the Acquisition

The acquisition of Deform by Saab is seen as a strategic move to not only secure the supply chain for ongoing projects but also to explore new business opportunities. Mats Wicksell, head of Saab’s business area Kockums, highlighted the synergies between the two companies.

“Deform’s expertise in shaping tough materials is invaluable, especially in projects like the production of Blekinge-class submarines. By bringing Deform into the Saab family, we aim to enhance collaboration, strengthen the supply chain, and drive innovation in the defense industry,” said Wicksell.

As part of Saab, Deform is expected to benefit from the company’s resources, expertise, and global network. The acquisition not only secures Deform’s future but also opens up new possibilities for growth and development.

Conclusion

The acquisition of Deform AB by Saab marks a significant milestone in the defense industry, strengthening the supply chain and fostering collaboration between two leading companies. With a shared commitment to excellence and innovation, Saab and Deform are poised to drive future advancements in defense technologies.
