Saab UK Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Fareham

Saab UK has recently inaugurated a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Fareham, Hampshire, signaling a significant milestone for the company’s operations in the region. The facility is poised to play a pivotal role in the development, manufacturing, and support of Saab’s radar systems and Seaeye underwater robotics portfolio.

State-of-the-Art Technology

Among the innovative products that will be manufactured at the new facility are Saab’s 3D multi-mission radar, Giraffe 1X, and the all-electric subsea remotely operated vehicle, Seaeye SR20. These advanced technologies underscore Saab’s commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that cater to the evolving needs of the maritime industry.

Investment and Job Creation

The establishment of the manufacturing facility in Fareham represents the culmination of the investment pledged by Saab in 2023. With the capacity to support up to 400 jobs, the facility also presents valuable opportunities for local apprenticeships, contributing to the growth and development of the region’s workforce.

Supporting the UK Ministry of Defence

One of the key objectives of the new facility is to bolster support for in-service radars utilized by the UK Armed Forces. By leveraging its expertise and capabilities, Saab aims to enhance the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the defense systems deployed by the Ministry of Defence.

Overall, the opening of the manufacturing facility in Fareham underscores Saab’s commitment to driving innovation, fostering job creation, and supporting the defense capabilities of the UK. The facility is poised to serve as a hub of technological excellence, enabling Saab to deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet the complex challenges of the maritime domain.
