Saildrone Secures $60 Million Investment to Expand Maritime Autonomy Technology in Europe

Saildrone, a pioneer in maritime autonomy, has recently announced the successful closing of a $60 million investment round led by EIFO, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark. This significant investment will be instrumental in bringing Saildrone’s cutting-edge technology to Europe, specifically to address the critical need for maritime security in safeguarding vital infrastructure and enhancing defense capabilities.

Addressing Maritime Security Challenges in Europe

The Baltic, North Sea, and European Arctic regions are currently facing unprecedented threats, highlighting the urgent requirement for persistent maritime domain awareness. Saildrone’s innovative unmanned surface vehicles, known for their exceptional endurance, are equipped with advanced sensors and proprietary AI algorithms. These features enable the vessels to provide comprehensive real-time data on the maritime environment, both above and below the sea surface.

Investment Participants

Aside from EIFO, the investment round also saw the participation of existing investors Lux Capital, Washington Harbor Partners, Crowley, and Academy Securities. Joining them as new investors is Pinegrove, further solidifying the support for Saildrone’s expansion efforts.

Deployment Plans

Saildrone is gearing up to deploy the first four Saildrone Voyagers in the Baltic Sea by June 2025, operating under a contract with the Danish Armed Forces. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Saildrone’s mission to enhance maritime security and defense capabilities in Europe.
