Sanlorenzo, in collaboration with MAN, has revealed further details of its new bi-fuel green methanol propulsion system for yachts. This bi-fuel system, presented during a press conference at boot Düsseldorf on 21 January 2025, will be installed on the new 50 X-Space model and can potentially reduce emissions during navigation by up to 70 per cent.
Plans for the new system were first revealed by Sanlorenzo in October 2024.

Massimo Perotti, executive chairman and CEO of Sanlorenzo Group, states: “We are proud to present today, alongside a major global player like MAN, an ambitious project that we are confident will contribute to revolutionising the entire yachting sector.
“Innovation has always been one of Sanlorenzo’s core values, and once again, we confirm our role as pioneers in introducing cutting-edge technological solutions. In this sense, the 50 X-Space project will set a new benchmark for sustainability in yachting, benefiting not only the sector but beyond.”
Mikael Lindner, head of MAN Engines, adds: “At MAN Engines, we are committed to simplifying our customers’ business through leading sustainable solutions. The use of alternative fuels, hybrid and battery technologies is a central part of our green transformation. We are pleased to be able to contribute further to the reduction of CO2 emissions in this project with the methanol bi-fuel drive in cooperation with Sanlorenzo and our other partners.”
In 2024, Sanlorenzo launched the 50 Steel model, featuring a green methanol fuel cell system capable of generating power for onboard services through a carbon-neutral process. The BGH-HSV hydrogen-powered vessel by Bluegame was also introduced, offering zero emissions with a range of 180 miles and speeds of up to 50 knots. This model supported two teams during the America’s Cup.
Methanol has been identified as a key fuel for the future of yachting due to its safety, biodegradability, and ease of handling. Already available at over 100 ports, methanol infrastructure requires minimal adaptation, making it a practical choice for sustainable maritime transport. Green methanol, produced from renewable sources, offers a so-called zero-emission solution.
Sanlorenzo’s 50 X-Space bi-fuel superyacht, scheduled for launch in 2027, aims to surpass the International Maritime Organisation’s target of a 70 per cent emission reduction by 2040 and the European Union’s Fit for 55 agenda, which sets a 55 per cent reduction goal by 2030.
The bi-fuel propulsion system forms part of the Life Mystic project, co-financed by the European Union under the LIFE programme. Collaborators include Ranieri Tonissi, MAN’s development partner, and Nanni Industries, providing generators for the yacht. The project, with an investment exceeding €4.8m, is coordinated by Sanlorenzo and aims to adapt existing vessels to a bi-fuel methanol-diesel system.
Expected benefits include annual reductions of 150 tonnes of CO2, 700 MWh of fossil fuel energy consumption, and 630 kilograms of air pollutants.

Sanlorenzo will reconfigure fuel tanks and integrate a distribution system for methanol to achieve full bi-fuel conversion. This initiative is expected to advance technological development and promote alternative fuel distribution chains in the maritime sector.

the title: “The Benefits of Mindful Eating”
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to overlook the importance of being present in the moment, especially when it comes to something as essential as eating. However, practicing mindful eating can have numerous benefits for both our physical and mental well-being.
Mindful eating is a practice that involves paying full attention to the experience of eating, from the taste and texture of the food to the sensations in our bodies. By being fully present during meals, we can better tune into our body’s hunger and fullness cues, leading to improved portion control and healthier eating habits.
One of the key benefits of mindful eating is improved digestion. When we eat mindfully, we are more likely to chew our food thoroughly and savor each bite, which can aid in the digestion process and reduce issues like bloating and indigestion.
Additionally, mindful eating can help us cultivate a healthier relationship with food. By being more mindful of our eating habits, we can better understand our cravings and emotional triggers, allowing us to make more conscious choices about what and how much we eat.
Mindful eating can also be a powerful tool for weight management. By slowing down and paying attention to our food, we are more likely to eat until we are satisfied rather than overeating out of habit or boredom. This can help us maintain a healthy weight and prevent unnecessary weight gain.
Furthermore, practicing mindful eating can enhance our overall sense of well-being. By taking the time to appreciate and enjoy our meals, we can experience a greater sense of satisfaction and pleasure from eating. This mindful approach can also reduce stress and anxiety around food, leading to a more positive relationship with eating.
In conclusion, the benefits of mindful eating are numerous and far-reaching. By being present and attentive during meals, we can improve our digestion, cultivate healthier eating habits, manage our weight, and enhance our overall well-being. So next time you sit down to eat, try slowing down, savoring each bite, and truly enjoying the experience of nourishing your body.
